Bellevue House, 304 Bellevue Ave. Sat: Tour of Ballard Park, 11 a.m.-noon, meet at the Hazard Road entrance for guided hike along the park’s trails to the quarry meadow where 18,000 daffodils are planted. Sidewalk Parade, Florence Gray Center, 1 York St., marchers with costumes, music walk to Miantonomi Park, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Earth Day Celebration and BBQ, games and face painting, 12:30-2 p.m., Miantonomi Park, Hillside Avenue, Middletown. Silent auction of works by Rhode Island artists, music, food, open bar. 21+ event. $30 in advance, $35 at door. Parking at Classical High School. Fri 7-10 p.m. Proceeds benefit afterschool and summer arts programs for Providence public high schools.

Opening day features jonnycakes; millstones turning; live music by Farm Dog; a visit by “Gilbert Stuart”; spinning, weaving and rug hooking demonstrations; exhibit “The Art of Herbert Cross.” Watch the return of the river herring on an underwater camera; observe the miller grinding corn in the historic gristmill; take a self-guided tour of the birthplace.
